i could help you, but considering i have just given information regarding having to do this exact procedure (pdm & edrawings) to a company to avoid licensing, along with a quote for the work, i am not going to give the coding for this.
i think that you either work for them, or have been asked by them to do this after gaining the knowledge of the required proceeding from me, which i do not appreciate. if you happen to be completely unrelated to this company then good luck but count my advise out for obvious reasons.
don't you have to have swx explorer installed on the client in order to access the vault? i talked with solidworks about this as one of our customers was trying to do the same and the answer was that you needed to have the pdmworks client installed and licensed anyways. you may want to read your license agreement as well, if you can accomplish this it still may violate the agreement.
get the edrawings api and look at the examples there. edrawings is only implimented as a form control so you need to create a form and work from there. i think this is really strange but it is what it is.
it can be implemented with or without a form, just not directly hooked into a running instance.... easily.
wow...aren't you the guy that was planning on writing a book on api. well do what you do best with that cause your assumtion skills suck. why would you even say something like that. just don't reply would have been a better responce. thanks anyway, can anyone else that does not have issuse with helping out a fellow cad admin help me out.

sw explorer will be install on there machines. we have a few stand alone licenses for it. our purch groug get does not want to search one drawing at a time. we also have the web viewer. again, printing one drawing at a time, they do not want to do that.
sorry luke, i never meant to come across like that. i do not work for any company you have giving code to, unless it is something i do not know about.
thanks for the responses

rodney,
i have written an application similar to this as we didn't want to license the viewer for sw. the api licensing was changed in 2007 and only the pdmworks api needs to be installed on the client machine for the application to work, a solidworks contributor license is only required for certain actions on the vault ie check-in.
i can't give the complete code away for this but may be able to help in some way.
mark.
mark, thanks for the advise. can we start by asking this question. i try and add the edrawings control 2008 to a form and get a message that says: failed to import the activex. please ensure it is properly registered.
i unregistered the dll and reregistered it and still recieve the same message. i went as far as doing a modify on edrawings software and that still has not fixed it. any suggestions?
thanks man1
