Another Position - Single Segment Tip

   Tighten Location in One Direction With a Separate Requirements Callout.

When using composite tolerancing, the second segment tightens the location between features in the pattern. As shown in the last Tip, if datum references are repeated in the second (lower) segment, the orientation of the pattern is tightened to the value specified in that segment. A feature control frame containing one geometric characteristic symbol, such as position, and two tolerances as shown, indicates a composite tolerance.

To restrict movement in one direction only, two single segments should be used. In the assembly shown below, if you want to restrict the movement of the part up and down to 0.3 but may allow a movement of 0.8 left and right, datums A and B should be repeated in the second segment as illustrated.
