what is the meaning or significance of an invisible viewport. ?
does this mean that the model space entities rendered through this viewport are also invisible ?

i'm not certain if you are talking about something other than the visibility of a viewport, but i do believe that the visibility of a viewport just controls the plotting of the viewport border or not.
if you could give a mroe detailed example of this "inivisble viewport", it may lead to something else. specifically, the od code to make one.

if viewport's layer if off it effects only the viewport's border visibilitry.
model space entities in the viewport remain visible.
