unable to load pre-defined patterns from acad.pat file
hi all,
i'm trying to hatch entities. i've successfully hatched using solid hatch. when i tried to use predefined patterns patterns like dots, angle, etc. i failed to achieve. so anyone please help in this regard...
following is the piece of code, i tried to load patterns fron acad.pat file..
oddbhatchptr phatch;
odhatchpattern phatchpattern;
odgepoint3d point = odgepoint3d(120,120,0);
oddbdatabase *pdb = theapp.m_pdb;

i'm successfully getting the message boxes,
file found and pattern manager not null
this means that, from the first message box i've successfully loaded the pattern to my database and from the second, there is pattern, in my pdb database pointer.
but still i'm not getting any patterns.. its alwasy showing without hatch...
so i need help for using hatches with predefined patterns...
anyone please help...!!

please change the line
odstring sfile = theapp.findfile("c:\\acad.pat",pdb, oddbhostappservices::kpatternfile);
to
odstring sfile = theapp.findfile("acad.pat",pdb, oddbhostappservices::kpatternfile);
in this case will file be found?

i'm able to load the "acad.pat" when i gave the path. but when i gave without the path (as u suggested) its not only loading the file.. i.e.
odstring sfile = theapp.findfile("acad.pat",pdb, oddbhostappservices::kpatternfile);
if(sfile.isempty() )
messagebox("file not found");
else
messagebox("file found");
i'm getting the message - file not found
my query was, even though i've loaded the acad.pat file, i'm unable to use the predefined patterns from that file...
i need help in that regard...

the clue is function retrievepattern uses findfile("acad.pat") to search this file. it doesn't know that you mean, that it is located on drive c.
to customize the path to acad.pat/acadiso.pat, you should override/modify/write your implementation of oddbhostappservices::findfile function.

file name is passed to oddbhostappservices::findfile as argument. this function must return "a string value that uniquely identifies this file", i. e. file name with full path.
