transition for interference fit???
i have to design a pin such that it fits very tightly inside the roller bearing. the pin is at the two ends of a pipe , which is being used as a roller. the i.d. of roller bearing = 7.952" i randomly used h7p6 and calculated the interference to be between .000 - .003". should i go for a transition fit for this condition or stick to interference fit??? try posting this on the bearing forum. what are the specs on the bearing? ball tolerance, internal clearances (abec-?) and such? what are design requirements of the bearing? loads, speed and shaft configuration? my gut tells me that is way too much interference....find someone that has a torrington bearing book they will step you through this process. i have a current design i working on that is a rotordynamic nightmare....90,000 rpm. best regards, heckler sr. mechanical engineer sw2005 sp 5.0 & pro/e 2001 dell precision 370 p4 3.6 ghz, 1gb ram xp pro sp2.0 nvidia quadro fx 1400 o _`\(,_ (_)/ (_) never argue with an idiot. they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time. promoting, selling, recruiting and student posting are not allowed in the forums.
