aci318-02 amplify seismic loads for sdc d special reinf mome
does anyone know if aci318-02 chp 21 requires amplification with omega (not rho)...
in other words, for my smrf, do i use(omega * qe +- 0.2 sdsd) for:
1. columns of the smrf
2. beams of the smrf
thanks...i can't find anything explicit in aci318-02!

no, it is not required to use omega factor for designing beams and columns of an smrf. if you have a column supporting a discontinuous shear wall or braced frame, then those columns have to be designed for overstrength factors.
