i am wondering what a typical lightweight aggregate is for cmu blocks. i am working on a project in which our specs call for expanded shale and clay aggregate. i got an rfi from the contractor saying this is out of date and they want to use pumice and granite. is this common practice? are there any benefits to using one or the other?
