what is the correct way for calculating the wind load on the overhang using asce 7? i have gotten conflicting opinions about using the overhang wind load or adding the overhang wind load to the roof load.

i interpret asce 7-95 for overhang design to be investigated as 1)components and cladding 2)part of the transfer into the mwfrs
for the second part, i would take pressure to the bottom of the windward overhang (w/cp=+0.8) in addition to the values given in fig 6-3 & 6-4 applied to topside of overhang/roof.
leeward overhang treated as part of leeward roof. be careful for a roof with a slope>30 degrees.
