cmu design w/ 2000 ibc
when designing masonry with asd i find it a bit confusing as to which load combinations to use for design. i think under the strict interpretation you should use the loads from aci-530 section 2.1.2, but the ibc just tells you to use chapter 1 & 2 for working stress design per section 2107.1. if you design for ultimate then aci 530 requires you to use the combinations from asce-7 and ibc says to use section 1605.2 which come from asce-7. any thoughts?
