current steel cost
does anyone know where i can find current costs for specific sections of steel? thank you very much! check out our whitepaper library. i would call or talk to a local steel fabricator or erector to get an accurate number. in my area (midwest states, usa), installed steel (raw steel, fabrication and erection) is running about $1,500 a ton, or $0.75/pound on jobs with a sufficeint amount of steel (whole buildings or large additions). this number can vary widely depending on location and the specific job requirements. $1500/ton for erected steel would be the bargain of the millenium. are you sure it's not material only? we do a lot of steel projects all over the country. average prices range from $3000-$4000 for erected steel. i'm not sure you can get a breakdown of costs for specific sections. granted there may be higher costs associated with handling and erection of heavy sections, and tube steel is typically 30-50% more than rolled wide flanges, but i've always seen the estimates by the ton. calling any fabricator would get you a quick answer for your specific area, however. have you tried rsmeans website? thank you guys very much for your input! i will take note! |
