depth of footing in virginia
does anyone know what the minimum depth of footing is in virgina? we are looking at designing a prototype foundation for a pemb that could be used almost anywhere in va, but we are from another state.

off the top of my head, the required footing depth in new kent county, va is 18 inches. new kent county is located about 20 miles east of richmond. i would presume that the counties located in the western part of the state would be deeper. some counties post this information on their websites under their building inspection division. to find each county's website, try
call a few public works departments across the state....
they are usually very helpful
