grade 8 vs. a490 bolts
 

grade 8 vs. a490 bolts
hi everyone,
i was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the relative applicability of grade 8 bolts and a490 high strength bolts? are the two interchgangeable?

aisc says no:
grade 8 bolts while they may have same tensile strength as a490, they do have smaller bolt head and nut than a490. that is why i will not use them in lieu of a490.
