hello all- i could really use some suggestions on where to find some information on a problem i am researching. basically it has to do with a guide pin from 1-3" diam. (press fit and flanged type) in a 1-4" thick plate, with a force from 500-2000 lbs. acting on the pin. obviously there are many variables in this, but how can i start to look at the deflection of the pin, especially if the plate thickness to pin diameter ratio is not safe? can i predict the deflection of the pin after the yield point of the steel plate is reached? any info, web sites, resources, etc would be of much help. thanks.
