portal frames in boundary conditions
i have been working through sci publication 087 (the behaviour of steel portal frames in boundary conditions.
following the 1st design example i worked out i need 155mm^2 cross sectional area to achieve the criteria for longitudinal stability. i am assuming this is provided along the building be the eaves tie, is this correct?

i believe the current sci publication for dealing with steel portals in boundary conditions is p313.
this superceded p087.

do you know if there are any significant differences?
i dont have both publications in front of me now, but i believe the largest change was to increase the scope of the document to include trussed construction also.
