screws safety factors
screws safety factors
i have to check the b screws (subgirt to structure) of a building. the safety factors used in our company are undecided (from 2 to 4). could anybody suggest any refference for screws safety factors in construction? thanks in advance. check out our whitepaper library. table 3.4 in residential steel framing handbook robert schareff and the editors of the walls and ceilings magazine mc graw hill 1996 p. 71 gives capacity for steel to steel connections for steel-to-steel in tension, i try to use 2.5 or greater safety factor as general guide. same for shear. for embedded anchors in concrete, i use 4 to 5. most anchor manufacturers use 5. i don't have a specific reference for this, just a practice. i am not sure what type of screw you are inquiring about. i think your asking about self tapping screws.i suggest that you contact the indugtrial fasteners institute, cleveland , oh 44114. |
