are you talking about chemical anchors? if this is the case nrec is the recommended axial load capacity and vrec is the recommended shear capacity.
this is what i'm reading from a report
use: 2-#6-32 screws nrec=205lb; vrec=101lb
nall=152lb; vall=50lb
152/2x205+50/2x101=0.62<1.0 ok

nrec would be the allowable tension or pullout capacity and vrec is the allowable shear.
