an unknown network error occurred. (40)
i am extremely new to solidworks products so forgive the "very basic" question. i cannot get a valid connection to pdmworks and need some help. here is what i've done: 1. i have pdmworks running on a machine called dev-solidworks and had created two users: admin and rodney. this was installed using defaults. 2. on my local machine, i created a view to the "vault" on dev-solidworks. (vault_setup.gif) 3. i can then access the vault in windows explorer ... appears to be no issues. (vault_access.gif & vault_view.gif) 4. when trying to access the vault in code however, i get an exception raised (an unknown network error occurred. (40)). i've even installed solidworks and dev studio on the pdmworks box in an attempt to isolate network traffic to the local machine but have received the same results. i have tried administrator as well as admin and rodney for the login here is the code when run from the dev-solidworks machine (localhost): imports pdmworks imports system.windows.forms public class form1 private sub form1_load(byval sender as system.object, byval e as system.eventargs) handles mybase.load try dim conn as pdmworks.pdmwconnection conn = createobject("pdmworks.pdmwconnection") conn.login("admin", "admin", "localhost") <-- blows right here conn.logout() conn = nothing catch ex as exception msgbox(ex.message) end try end sub end class edited: 11/06/2008 at 02:59 pm by rodney mccabe click for full image if the name of the machine is "dev-solidworks" then try replacing "localhost" with the machine name, see if that works. unfortunately localhost doesn't work either ... but thanks for trying! well the only time you should be getting that error, is if the pointer to the server is invalid. try using the the ip address for the vault machine in that place. according to help: input: (bstr) server name of the server (dns name or ip address) ip didnt work either. the ports are open (per netstat) and i have no firewall enabled ... active connections proto local address foreign address state tcp dev-solidworks:epmap dev-solidworks:0 listening tcp dev-solidworks:microsoft-ds dev-solidworks:0 listening tcp dev-solidworks:1025 dev-solidworks:0 listening tcp dev-solidworks:ms-sql-s dev-solidworks:0 listening tcp dev-solidworks:2383 dev-solidworks:0 listening tcp dev-solidworks:3030 dev-solidworks:0 listening tcp dev-solidworks:3389 dev-solidworks:0 listening tcp dev-solidworks:netbios-ssn dev-solidworks:0 listening tcp dev-solidworks:1045 dev-solidworks:ms-sql-s established tcp dev-solidworks:1048 dev-solidworks:3030 established tcp dev-solidworks:1052 dev-solidworks:ms-sql-s established tcp dev-solidworks:1054 dev-solidworks:ms-sql-s established tcp dev-solidworks:1055 dev-solidworks:ms-sql-s established tcp dev-solidworks:1066 vm-harris-ilnk:netbios-ssn time_wait tcp dev-solidworks:ms-sql-s dev-solidworks:1045 established tcp dev-solidworks:ms-sql-s dev-solidworks:1052 established tcp dev-solidworks:ms-sql-s dev-solidworks:1054 established tcp dev-solidworks:ms-sql-s dev-solidworks:1055 established tcp dev-solidworks:3030 dev-solidworks:1048 established tcp dev-solidworks:ms-sql-m dev-solidworks:0 listening udp dev-solidworks:microsoft-ds *:* udp dev-solidworks:isakmp *:* udp dev-solidworks:3030 *:* udp dev-solidworks:4500 *:* udp dev-solidworks:ntp *:* udp dev-solidworks:netbios-ns *:* udp dev-solidworks:netbios-dgm *:* udp dev-solidworks:ntp *:* maybe add a pointer to the hosts file? dev-solidworks 192.168.0.5 sw2009 sp3.0 pentium d 840-3.2 ghz 4gb ddr2 667 ati firegl v5600 - driver ver. 8.440.0.0 winxp pro 32bit an understanding that without any understanding, we would all be misunderstood.. i *think* the machine knows who it is (after confirming w/ipconfig) windows ip configuration host name . . . . . . . . . . . . : dev-solidworks primary dns suffix . . . . . . . : node type . . . . . . . . . . . . : unknown ip routing enabled. . . . . . . . : no wins proxy enabled. . . . . . . . : no ethernet adapter local area connection: connection-specific dns suffix . : description . . . . . . . . . . . : vmware accelerated amd pcnet adapter physical address. . . . . . . . . : 00-0c-29-5a-ef-92 dhcp enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : no ip address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.10.10.177 subnet mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 default gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.10.10.254 dns servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.10.10.151 the only other thing i can think of is that it is in a virtual machine. the whole environment is in it though including pdmworks, visual studio, sql server, etc. it is completely self contained. edited: 11/06/2008 at 04:31 pm by rodney mccabe i thought the problem was connecting to dev-solidworks from another machine.. guess i misunderstood. sorry about that.. sw2009 sp3.0 pentium d 840-3.2 ghz 4gb ddr2 667 ati firegl v5600 - driver ver. 8.440.0.0 winxp pro 32bit an understanding that without any understanding, we would all be misunderstood.. quick |
