vb 6.0 for solidworks 2009 api
i am employed with a engineering consultant company. we have lot of api programs developed using vb 6.0. i got a recent update from solidworks that in the upcoming version (solidworks 2009) will not support vb 6.0. is this true? no it is fine. you can use vb6, vb.net, c#.net (any .net). its just that they are pushing vb out very very slowly like all other major developers, but this will take 5+ years at least if it ever does happen, which i doubt it will thanks luke. the reason it's not going to happen in my view is that it is the macro language for sw. it's no longer macro-ish when vb.net is required (a separate program). getting rid of vb6 would be a bit like autocad completely dumping autolisp. matt lorono solidworks 2007 sp3.1 cad engineer/ecn analyst luke if they are moving away from vb are they moving to c# and c++? or vb.net? cswa, cswp, cswp-smtl, sw 2009 sp2.0 hp xw4600 xp32, x9650 4gb, quadro fx3500 they will move to .net as a logical step, although i don't think it will happen any faster than the apparent move to 64bit (which has been out for countless years already and they said that move would be within 1 year). hi, luke, strongly agree! see, lots vb sources available in api help files while vb.net is little. btw, could you introduce some variant cast examples with vb.net? in fact, vb.net is tougher than vb. i am caught by the trouble. thx! quick |
