assertion in odgepoint3darray::getsamplepoints()
assertion in odgepoint3darray::getsamplepoints()
in my code that loads a spline curve, i am getting the following assertion message on a call odgepoint3darray::getsamplepoints():
file: c:\opendwg\dd1.11\source\ge\genurbcurve.h
line: 699
expression: invalid execution
what condition caused this assertion failure?
i am using dwgdirect version 1.11.01.00 and ms vc++ 6. i tried to attach the file that causes the problem, but was unable to do so. if you include an e-mail address in your response, i would be glad to send the file directly.
thanks,
bob
the assertion means that evalpoint() function was called with wrong parameter value (out of range). are you sure you pass valid arguments to getsamplepoints()?
my address is sslezkin_at_softdev.spb.ru
_at_ should be replaced with @
sergey slezkin
i am using the following version of getsamplepoints():
code:
odgecurve3d::getsamplepoints(int numsample, odgepoint3darray& pointarray)
is there a maximum acceptable value for the numsample argument, or perhaps a limit to the number of points that can be stored in a odgepoint3darray?
bob

this may be because you use incorrect genurbcurve3d object, or due to bug in dwgdirect. how do you create/receive genurbcurve3d? you can also send files to me, i'll sent you private message with my email address.
sincerely yours,

thanks george. i will send you the file directly.
the following code snippet illustrates how i use the genurbcurve3d object. it is worth noting that the spline curve where i get the assertion has 289 control points, so it is quite large. this is the first time that i have run into this problem.
bob
code:
class dwgsplineloader : public dwgentityloader
{
public:

bool load(oddbentity* pentity) const
{
oddbsplineptr pspline = pentity;
// get nurb curve definition and create object
int ndegree;
bool brational, bclosed, bperiodic;
odgepoint3darray actrlpts;
odgedoublearray aweights;
odgeknotvector vknots;
double dtol;
pspline->getnurbsdata(ndegree, brational, bclosed, bperiodic, actrlpts, vknots, aweights, dtol);
odgenurbcurve3d* pnurb = new odgenurbcurve3d(ndegree, vknots, actrlpts, aweights, bperiodic);
// generate points that represent the curve
odgepoint3darray asamplepts;
int nnumsamplepts = actrlpts.size() * 16;
pnurb->getsamplepoints(nnumsamplepts, asamplepts);
// ...save the points to be drawn later...
delete pnurb;
return true;
}
};

assertion fails because of bug in dwgdirect, bug is fixed, fix will be available in next release.
btw, better function for getting graphical representation of curves is
code:
void getsamplepoints(double fromparam, double toparam, double approxeps, odgepoint3darray& pointarray, odgedoublearray* pparamarray = 0) const;
if deviation
code:
approxeps
is unknown (e.g. usually in export tasks), pass 0. dwgdirect will compute deviation basing on some heuristic considerations.
sincerely yours,
george udov
thanks, george. i switched to the other version of getsamplepoints, and it has no problem with the sample file.
