hi there,
i have a question about inserting blocks. i wrote some code to create a block and insert it into drawing as a reference. it works as i expected. however when i do audit on the drawing, it reports an error that i don't understand. is it a serious error? and how to resolve it?
the error is:
auditing block "myblock" entities pass 1
dxf name current value validation default
dependent referenced resolved dependent delete this block

looks like an xref-dependent block which is not xref iteself (a block from xref drawing) is saved to file.
if so it's result of bug in dd which is fixed in upcoming 1.12
unnecessary data is saved to file and it increases the file size.
if your situation is different from i described, post at forum or send me the file, please.

thank you for the response. looks like that's the reason. the error seems only happening when a xref with blocks is invloved. good to know the fixing is comming.
now my another question: is this a serious problem? can it cause the corruption of the file? it seems not, because i can use audit to fix it. but i'd like to confirm so i know if i can go with this process.

i can't say how serious it is. it seems autocad can live with it but in general incorrect things in file may cause autocad crash if some operation is performed even later in another autocad session.
