hi,
is there any technical difference between autocad 2008 vanilla version and autocad 2008 mechanical version.
we are planning to upgrade our existing version of autocad 2002 to autocad 2008. also we are planning to use dwgdirectx libraries to implement our customized functionality (loading, saving, manuplating block informations, etc) as a .net service.
will there be any hurdles in implementing this process in mechanical version of autocad 2008.
any help will be appreciated. thanks in advance

autocad mechanical creates a number of specific entities/objects which are not supported by pure autocad and dwgdirect. they will be proxy entities/objects outside of mechanical.
if your customized functionality is intended to work on computer with installed autocad you can use autocad's automation or .net interface.
