dimension rendering
dimension rendering
hello forum,
is it possible to know wether an oddbdimension looks like its associated dimblock or not ?
thank you in advance to answer.
jerome
do you mean if the block is generated correctly?
open the file in autocad and make minor modification in dimension. for example select it and change color (bylayer to byblock). the block will be recomputed by autocad.
ctrl/z & ctrl/y (undo/redo) will show you old/new block.

i mean the oddbdimension i get from some dwg does not always represent exactely what i see in autocad. i have been told i should use the entities in the dimblock to render the dimension as they are in autocad.
i want to know if there is a piece of information in an oddbdimension telling whether it "matches" its dimblock.
thank you.
where is no a flag indicating if the information in file is valid or not :-)
after you open the file in autocad the dimension is rendered by it's block saved to file. the block may be absolutely of any kind.
after you edit the dimension in autocad the block is recomputed.
this is the reason why dimensions may significantly change their appearence after minor editing.
btw, dimension saved to file may have no block associated with it. it's valid situation. in such case the block will be generated by autocad if dimension needs to be rendered.
