i'm writing an application that displays a database.
i've copied the corresponding code from odamfcapp and slightly adapted it to my needs, but i think the code is basically the same.
now i want to let the user exchange the drawing showed on display.
i've declared an oddbdatabaseptr object (pdbsbesa) and this is what i'm doing in order to achieve my goal (this function is also called from oninitialupdate()):

is there any part of this code that must be executed only the first time i load the database?

very difficult to analyze what you have without knowing where this is applied and how. are you in an mdi architecture? are you using a view derived from odgicontextfordbdatabase?
is your document derived from oddbdatabase?
i'm using a slightly modified version of odamfcapp.
the code in previous message works perfectly first time i open a database.
the problem comes when i want to exchange the "actual" database and i choose a new database to show.
the "old" drawing disappears but nothing is shown on display.
sorry, there is a crucial fact i have not mentioned:
i want my application to show a database chosen by the user always in the same view (the database is used as a template), that is user chooses a file to open then it is shown on display, then user chooses another file to open then it is shown on display and so on.

i think the best way to approach this is to look at the odamdiapp example (cloes to odamfcapp - but very trimmed back). the app is mdi architecture - slowy change the application to sdi.
in an sdi architecture you will have only one db open and viewing at a time.
