in the previous version of opendwg, there are procedures that read and write the binary chunk of a proxy entity (dxf code 310). for example

in dwgdirect 1.1 i'm trying to find a corresponding way to read the same data.
can anyone help?
both in autocad and dwgdirect it's possible to implement custom objects/entities. if a file containing such objects is being loaded and plug-in (arx) implementing them is unavailable such objects are loaded as proxies (unknown objects). depending on file format and version of input file they may be saved to output file as they were in source file (as original objects) or as proxies.
if plug-in implementing custom objects presents during file loading the objects are created. and proxies are turned back into original objects.
to get access to data stored in proxy entity in dwgdirect you need to implement a custom class representing the entity. in such case after file loading you'll get not proxy but mycustomclass object.
in such class you need to implement dwginfields(), dwgoutfields(), dxfinfields() and dxfoutfields() functions.
this is not a problem if you know format of the data.
excustobjs is a sample illustrating implementing of custom objects.

read binary data from proxy
in our application i need to read binary data from oddbproxyentity, so that it can be stored in our database (not oda database), and so that we can later write it our to dwg/dxf.
(in other words, we don't want to handle proxy entity, just store it's data for round-trip back to dwg/dxf).
i don't see how i can use custom entity class as in excustobjs to do what i want.
is there any other way i can extract binary data from oddbproxyentity after it has been loaded form file?

you can use oddbentget() / oddbentmod() for that purpose (see the bottom of dbobject.h)
