obviously, because autocad uses 256 color palettes, it makes most sense for an output bitmap to be 8-bit. however, is it valid to have anything else? 24-bit obviously since it will just expand the pixels to rgb values instead of index values, but about color reduction to 1-bit? btw, i haven't had a valid image come out with that depth, so i don't think it is possible, but...
my question is, what is possible\suggested? some documentation of each device's capabilities would be a great addition to this toolkit...
