electrical schematics
all my experience is in machine design but once in a while i have to make an electrical schematic. these are complex conrol systems with lots of sensors and actuators. i make the schematic on one sheet and the harness details on another. so far i have just made up my own system and placed the components according to what looks good on paper.
is there an industry standard that should be followed? for example, the right way to show junctions or wires crossing, or how much detail to show for connectors, how to label wires, what colors and stripes should be used.
check out our whitepaper library.

in the usa you should be using nfpa 79 "electrical standard for industrial machinery".
