measurement scanners
recently the owner of our company, has been pushing for an optical scanner, such as a "fabrivision" or "micro vu." i am curious to know if any of you have one of these or similar machines, and how they work, what kind of accuracy and precision do they have, etc. also how do they with stand shop floor conditions, as this is where it would be. we do primarily metal stamping, and sheet metal, no material more than .250. any suggestions would be very helpful.
thanks

check out our whitepaper library.
get a demo. use parts with known measurements and compare results.
as a microvu user, i highly recommend their machines. i have been using their machines for about 4 years. the software is very user friendly and the machine, even with just visual, does a great job of working in 3 dimensions. i've ran other vision systems as well, and feel that the microvu, especially at it's price, usually much lower than comparable machines, is a bargain. if you think that you may find need for it later, you can get a model, the vertex, with a renishaw probing system. as far as the software goes, anybody that is fairly competent with a computer, and understands metrology, should be able to get up and running in a few days.
