metric screw thread callout
hi all, new memeber.
have a question on how to dimension a screw thread. it's metric, 16mm with a pitch of 1.0mm. need to tap a hole with this type of thread. am using the ansi y14.5m-1994.
all i can find in my references are a minumum nominal size, threads per inch, thread form and thread class. i'm used to calling out fractional threads as .250-20 unc-2b. what is the format for calling out metric threads with these parameters?

m16x1 7h could be an example for the tapped hole; 7h being the tolerance, it can be different, it depends on the tolerance of the bolt and fit you need.
look in the machinery handbook for more info.

also...fyi, it's asme y14.5m-1994, not ansi. and it doesn't have thread info.

okay, thanks. don't know why i had such a problem. i've called out metric threads before, just couldn't find any of my old drawings. brain fart...
i have a bright and shiny brand new machinists handbook sitting on the floor of my office. i always forget about that thing because i try to use y14.5 exclusively. machinist's handbook is a reference only thing for me.
