8" conc. shearwall boundry condition
when do you need to provide closed ties at a boundary condition (end strip) for an 8" rectangular shape, concrete shearwall design? say that as for flexure criteria is met as well as ash & asv for shear criteria using one reinforcing layer. when is it required to have 2-layers or reinf. for walls less or equal to 10"?

look in aci chapter 21. those are seismic requirements when you are in moderate to high risk areas.
