默认 deflection from impact load

deflection from impact load
looking for a way to calculate deflection of a 108" x 30" plate supported on the 2 short sides and 1 long side, caused by a 100 lbs. load falling from 1.5 ft. above the plate.
find a job or post a job opening
you have an energy problem to solve. you can reference blodgetts design of welded structures or/ and design of weldments. both of these books use an energy approach to solve the problem. you know the initial velocity and and the velocity at plate impact can be solved for. you can solve for the plate stiffness using elastic plate theory, 2 way strip, yield line analysis, or fea. once the plate stiffness is known you can solve the energy equations to generate the applied force. this will probably be conservative. you have to know the plate stiffness to know how fast the object decelerates. aside from the plate analysis the blodgett books (available for cheap from the lincoln arc welding foundation website) should be able to walk you through it no problem.
thanks aggman. i found it in section 2.8. i didn't realize design of welded structures covered impact.
