impact dampers
hi. i am busy doing some research on the implementation of impact dampers in engineering structures. do you know of any critical outstanding issues related to the topic? there are a number of practical issues to do with selection of materials and long term performance and wear, especially of the damper material, including temperature effects.
most of the literature out there is theoretical and not much has been published on pratical applications of impact dampers in structures.
has anyone encountered anything specific that still needs to be investigated?
