pad & chimney foundation
this question is regarding rebar calculation based on bending of pad due to soil pressure from below.
pad(square) dimension=l , shaft(square in x-s) dimension=p
soil pressure= w kn/sq. m.

i normally design pad reinforcement based on bending of free end of pad from the face of column i.e.
bending= w*l*1/2*(l-p)²
my question is :
if my shaft is circular(dia.=p) instead of square, then what will be the free length of pad from face of column for bending?
will it still be 1/2*(l-p) or some different calculation?
