what's a good (or the best) book on the mechanics of pile cap design?
crsi (concrete reinforcing steel institute) handbook chapter 13 has very good theory and examples on pile cap design.
you might want to pick up a copy of poulos and davis' "pile foundation analysis and design" (john wiley & sons, inc.) it is an older (1980) reference, but still a good one to keep.
