puddling of concrete slabs
el nino (visitor)25 jun 02 16:53
i have started a debate with a couple of my colleagues. i would love to get some opinions/feedback. in our office typical details, we show that for corner columns (in particular) that have a concrete strength greater than the slab strength, puddling must be coordinated on site such that the concrete strength at the slab/column joint is equal to the column concrete strength. this is to satisfy clause 10.12, transmission of loads through floor system, of the csa a23.3-94. i quote clause 10.12.3: "the resistance of the column in the joint region . . . ". however, i interpret the "resistance" of the "joint region" as satisfying bearing. others say it is axial resistance. am i wrong?
