默认 reinforcing steel pipe columns

reinforcing steel pipe columns
i am looking for information on "cladding" or adding stainless steel sleeves to reinforce existing pipe columns.
i am evaluating a 50+ year old building in which the use of caustic material has corroded many beams and columns. there are dozens of columns with various stages of corrosion / pitting, and my first thought was to replace all these columns. however, due to the number of these columns and the cost associated with the replacement and shutting down the operation, i am considering the use of "cladding" in some of these columns. the existing building has many columns with stainless steel sleeves around them, but i doubt they were engineered.
i would like to know of any literature on designing / detailing the "cladding". i would think the cladding would be designed as though the original column is not present, but as far as attaching the sleeve, would welding the top of the sleeve to the solid portion of the column be sufficient to transfer the load to the new cladding?
any information or past experiences would be very much appreciated.
