sign post deflection
i am looking for either a code reference (usa/can) or guideline for the allowable deflection of steel hss posts supporting a relatively small sign structure (in the 40 sq. ft. range about 12 to 14 ft. above ground level)due to wind loading. the steel hss posts cantilever from a concrete foundation below grade.
you wont find one. we used h/50 for plain signs and h/100 for brittle ones such as led.
hope this helps.
you can look at aashto code for highway sign structures. my office uses h/80 for a 25yr wind event.
