which stress to use-staad
i have just modelled a steel plate silo with plate elements. i have applied just one plate load internally. now i need to see what is the stress in silo plate members. the plate contour have a number of stresses, von mise, tresca, sx, sqx.. which one i should use

i use von mises, or you can take the maximum of von mises or tresca.
i think von mises is the most commonly accepted failure criteria for metals.
