wind loads in new york state code vs. ibc
while using table 1609.6.2.1(1) of the current building code of new york state, i noticed some discrepancies between that table and the same table in ibc 2000, yet there is no indication in the new york code that some load values were intentionally changed. it appears that this is only the case for the loads under the columns headed "vertical loads-windward overhang-end zone" and "vertical loads-windward overhang-interior zone". one example is for 85 mph wind velocity in the longitudinal direction: the tabulated loads for the end zone and interior zone are -20.6 psf and -16.4 psf, respectively, in the new york code, and -19.3 psf and -15.1 psf, respectively in ibc 2000. similar discrepancies are found throughout these two columns, but interestingly, the loads in these columns for some wind speeds are identical between the new york code and the ibc (e.g., 105 mph).
i'm just wondering if anyone out there knows of a reason why these discrepancies have ocurred, or is it a mistake in the new york code? i appreciate any info you may have.
