wood shearwall hold downs onto pt slab
wood shearwall hold downs onto pt slab
first post here. i have a 4 story wood frame building on top of a 12" pt slab. i'm trying to spec out a hold down for about 7k of uplift into a pt slab. i want to avoid anything that is post installed to avoid any chances of the contractor cutting into the tendons. any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated. thanks.
cast an embed plate with shear studs. contractor will hate it but it beats having to post-install. anchor rod is directly welded to the center of the plate. make sure you specify the correct anchor rod diameter in relation to the simpson/usp holddown that you specify at that location.
cast in a threaded ferrule.
cast in a pvc sleeve if there is access to the bottom of the slab for bolt to go in sleeve.
elmer's glue?
jae... is that the traditional white elmer's or that new blue gel they have? i miss the paste that had a wintergreen scent, yummy...
is your slab existing or new ?
new
anything you cast in place will be cast in the wrong place. the tendon locations should be coordinated with the holdown locations.
