wood species spec. for trusses in hawaii
i'm working on a project on the main land of hawaii as the eor where engineered wood roof trusses are being used. what species would anyone recommend using in this region? might i consider them being shipped from the west coast or use native material.

i would call a few lumber yards to see what is available locally and then see if that is acceptable.
that would be my next step but just curious as to what other are using in the region.

also call local manufacturers of wood trusses. they can tell you exactly what they can and can not provide. they should have an engineering department or engineer on staff to help answer your questions.
can you spec as the choice of the truss supplier and to meet or exceed given loads? if not what circumstances prevents this?
