while opening a dwg file , i want to get the last active layout name, so that i can display the newly opened drawing with that layout name , as the current one (in the drawing view window).
i have found the variable "ctab".
but if i call something as below
m_pdb->getsysvar("ctab") , i get an error saying invalid input.
how can this to be resolved?
there is an operation of the oddbdatabase which is findactivelayout() - can it help in your case?

ctab is not an ordinary variable stored in drawing. where is no oddbdatabase::getctab() function.
but getsysvar("ctab", ..) / setsysvar("ctab", ..) should work starting with dd 1.14
the value of ctab is not stored but is detected by getsysvar() based on tilemode and model or paper layout data.
implementation of get/setsysvar() for such "quasi" variables resides in optional module dbcommands.
to use get/setsysvar() functionality for such variables you need dbcommands module loaded.
the list of these variables is in quasivardefs.h

i used getsysvar( "gridmode"). it was working and i was able to get the current mode. but when i set the value back then it was crashing..

i suppose you get einvalidresbuf exception from setbool() because restype is odresbuf::krtint16.

thank you very much. its working now. but i have a question... if the return type of gridmode is odresbuf::krtint16. then why is it declared as odtbool here in quasivardef.h?

actually it's a bool variable. but gridmode was introduced in early autocad version then boolean type was not used in resbuf. so autocad returns gridmode as int16 via resbuf.

setdimpost() is crashing
hi, oddbdatabase::setdimpost(odstring str) is crashing.. i was working fine in 1.12 version of dwgdirect... its happening with 1.14. please tell me if any extra info i have to give.. although getdimpost() is working fine...

strange... which value is retstr populated with? have not you forgot about trailing zero?

i don't know whats the problem but even the hardcoded one is not working... and crashing in same way..
