spline control points

we have a some dxf files with splines created with autocad. these splines have been specified to have their control points rendered along with the normal nurbcurves. how do i test splines to determine whether or not the control points should be displayed? it's not apparent in the documentation.
i guess control points are to be rendered if the autocad spline property splframe is equal to 1 (splframe=1)... how do i test for this property in dwgdirect?
splframe is not a property of spline entity - it's system variable. it effects all splines in drawing. you can acces it with
oddbdatabase::getsplframe()
oddbdatabase::setsplframe()
