bolt punching shear in steel
does anybody have any references for calculating the capacity punching shear/pull-through of a bolt in a relatively thin steel plate? i remember performing the calculation a few years ago but can't seem to remember my source.

aisc has an equation for pull-out of a bolt thru a hss section. you could probably use the same equation.
rn = 0.85(dw)(t)(fu)
dw = diameter of part in contact with the inner surface of hss
t = wall thickness
f.s = 3.00
you need to look in the aisi (american iron and steel institute) cold formed steel design manual.
