assembly section view
hi,
i am trying to exclude a few components from my assembly section view. the help section says that a list of components can be selected to be excluded, but i dont see anything in the section property manager nor do i get any pop-up to select components to be excluded...any suggestions?

right-click the view and select "properties". one of the tabs has the list of hidden components and another has the list of excluded components.

select the section view, hit the "more properties" button, and go to the "section scope" tab to select components to exclude.
honesty may be the best policy, but insanity is a better defense.

i also wanted to know if there is a way to show the cosmetic thread in the drawing view...i can see it the part, but it does not show on the drawing.

go to tools > options > document properties > detailing - annotations display and select display annotations.

while we're on this subject...is this the best way to do this? some folks believe you should create another configuration, hide the components, and make your assembly view. just would like to here some of your feedback on this. i know there's no right or wrong way.

i suggest trying to do things the 'sw way' at first. if problems arise, then switch to a 'manual' workaround.
i'm a great believer in configs, but they should be used judiciously as they will increase file size.

cbl, so what you're saying is to shut the parts off manually in the drawing mode as mention in this thread?

yes ... i very rarely have need to do that, but that is the way i would try first, because that is what sw recommends.
however, as you said, there is no right or wrong way. just do it the way you find easiest or which best suits your company's procedure.
