my company in us might get some design work from saudi arabia. boss want to know how are engineering design fees charged in saudi arabia. any body have any idea about it.thanks.
the design fees depend on the scope of work. whether it covers only structural design works or the complete package (arch., struct., mep., bills of quantities and specifications)

you can never go wrong if you use a 3.0 multiplier on man hours times a 5.0 multiplier on corporate risk, plus food and lodging.
if your client is the owner of the project, then the fees are calculated as a percentage of the total cost of the project. these fees depend on the size and complexity of the project and may range between (1.5%-4% design, and 1.5%-3% supervision)for the complete package.
however, if your client is a local consultant in saudi arabia, then these fees quite less and you can calculate them based on either man-hours or just a lump-sum figure.
