i'd like to have your opinion here
c# or vb: which one shoud i go for programing solidworks api
i am in the beginning phrase of .net learning curve and just wondering which language is used most for programmers here

i use vb because i learned with the vba editor in solidworks. the transition to vb.net for me was easy and i have not even looked at another language. my opinion is biased. here is a link to a comparison of vb and c#. maybe this will help with your decision a bit.
they both compile into the same lower level computer language and are both very similar in syntax and function.
the key differences are that vb reads more like a spoken language (such as if i am not here then do this), which makes it easier for non-computer literal people to pick it up. c# is more of a computer programming language and mimicks lower level language syntax using curly braces and lower casing for keywords etc...
on the coding side of things, vb hides out some key elements of programming such as explicit casting and interface creation so it is all done behind the scenes without the user even being aware. while this makes it easier for the user they are less aware of what is actually going on with their code and that is never a good thing for a programmer; you often find once a vb program gets an error the programmer is unable to understand the reasoning behind it because they do not understand what vb has done in the background for them.
my personal choice would be c# between the two but i use them both and many others and they all serve their purpose. i wouldn't worry too much about which to use so long as you can understand it and do what you require. down the line you will find once you learn one language the rest flow much easier.
